A few things I'm loving during my down time, these early days of October...

It seems always to be autumn in London. Or that the city was made for the season. In any case, Call The Midwife is such a charming story about a sisterhood thriving among quite dire post-war conditions in East London. I rented it from my local library. |
I wear cardigans a lot - love the mustard with the grey scarf!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to watching Season 4 of Downton Abbey :)
I'm with you: Downton is still my fave! Yes you have a very pretty aesthetic, Duni...one I greatly admire. I can definitely see you in some pretty cardigans :)
DeleteI've heard some good things before about Call the Midwife, with the cold season (aka couch potato season) nearing, I will give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd like it, M. Do let me know what you think if you do end up seeing it!
DeleteI have one more season of Mad Men ahead of me. I think Call the Midwife would be a good replacement. I'll let you know what I think of it!
DeleteA new addiciton has arrived! Just finished the third episode of Call the Midwifenow. I'll have a quick run to the kitchen, snatch up some milk and cookies and carry on watching!
DeleteAddiciton should be addiction... Typing correctly and sundays don't go well together.
DeleteI love Call the Midwife!! I watch it on Netflix and Season 2 just was put on. Also, I just finished watching Upstairs Downstairs Season 1. Eventually I'll get around to Season 2.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know there are other period piece nerds out there! I hear there is an old 70's version of Upstairs Downstairs...I shudder to think what that would be like!
DeleteI wish I had more time to watch TV, that show sounds great. My Mom used to watch Upstairs Downstairs and I know she loved it!
ReplyDeleteAh...nicely played, Liz! Yes, I am somewhat of a lazy sloth, watching all this tv...I'm one of those mummies who feels ready to face another day of hands-on-mothering only if I feel I've done a little something for myself each day :) I also exercise and spend time on my spiritual well being in order to keep myself in check!
DeleteThanks for stopping by...
I'll have to watch Call the Midwife, it's nice to know it's available on Netflix too. I've just started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I'm a bit behind the times but really enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, BTVS! That's basically vintage...I'm sorta like that with fashion: I'll catch on and come around to liking whatever it was that was in fashion about seven seasons ago :( Anyway, my sister was positively obsessed with BTVS when it was new on the scene so I know it's awesome!
DeleteI love Call the Midwife! I've been meaning to purchase the book it's based on, I'm sure there are many fascinating details in it that aren't in the show!
ReplyDeleteYes, I want the book too now. What a marvelous thing, to be able to be with a mother while she's giving life to a child. Only back then there were so many things that OB's generally have in check these days. The show made me feel lucky to have given birth in this time period!
DeleteI started watching "Call the Midwife" but didn't really get hooked... I guess I'll give it another try. There's so many people loving it!
ReplyDelete"Upstairs Downstairs" is on my list for sure! I can't avoid anything similar to Downton Abbey!
Great selection Melissa!
Thanks, Daniela! Ya, I think the parochial tutelage on "call the midwife" appealed to me - I was also schooled by nuns for a while and unlike most people who had the same experience, I really enjoyed it!
DeleteYou recommend such amazing historical fiction and biography on your own blog - your readers appreciate it!
I like your picks, the scarf is my favourite!
