Finds. Favorites. Flowering.

Some additions to the photo journal this week:

Our container garden is in full bloom

We painted the powder room the colour that had been keeping me
up with excitement...and of course finally hung the Grant Haffner
paintings I'd been obsessed with as of late
!

Big news in our world:  we are able to buy mâche salad locally now.
Reminds me of summering in Switzerland...

One of Oliver's (aged 7.5) latest paintings.

I love a good crime drama in the summer months.  Been watching 'The Bridge', a Danish/Swedish venture.  Soooooo good!

Anyone have a good fictional crime author or tv series recommendation?  Ghost stories are up my alley too.  Please share in comments if you do!

    1. Thanks for the Blacklist tip, Duni! In Switzerland, we call this type of salad "nüsslisalat"!

  3. Ooooh, great new color for the powder room! As for crime series recommendations, True Detective is about to start season 2. It's a different cast and the story won't continue on from the first, so you can pick it up without going back.

    1. Large praise on the colour coming from you, Paige! Your bathroom re-do inspired me to get moving on mine too :) I've heard lots about true detective...gonna give it a go!

  4. First things first: Oliver's incredibly talented! Congratulations! :)

TV Crime series: i'm currently catching up with Criminal Minds; if you're not already watching it, you definitely should! I watched Ghost Whisperer and i liked it, so this is my recommendation for the ghost series. :D

  5. In the Netherlands we say Veldsla or ezelsoor (donkey ear). And ezelsoor is also the Dutch word for dog ears :-)

The Bridge is so good! I also tried the American version, but I didn't like it much. I love the whole atmosfere of the original Scandinavian series. Same goes for the Killing.

    1. I love how I can *almost* understand Dutch! The German 'Esel' and 'Feld' are not far off...

Ooooh...so glad I have a fellow-The Bridge fan! I'm not even going to try the American version. I already know it will be lame in contrast. I'm currently watching the Killing...Seattle is super close to where we live (though we're on the other side of the border)...all the rain makes the landscape also conducive to grisly crimes and detective work...
