Drawing Patterns

Recently I was inspired to draw fields of flowers...many tiny blossoms clustered together.  The process was slow, but the end result rewarding.

'Botanical Beetle'

I began the process by drawing tiny clusters of flowers and vines, then
colouring in the background with a fine pencil crayon...

...then once the background was applied, I coloured each little leaf and
 petal with a set palate...

...and to finish off the pattern sheet, I outlined each and every flower with my
 favorite black fineliner from Muji!

I've been trying my hand at other shapes, scale and shades.  Making pattern sheets is a fun way to bring individuality to projects.  It helps that I really enjoy working on small-scale projects, I guess!
